Stainless steel backsplash behind my range

I want to put a sheet of stainless steel behind my range, but I've heard from people that it becomes hard to clean and gets scratched very easily. Does anyone have experience with a stainless steel backsplash behind their range and if so, how long have you had it. Thanks.

I used one behind the stove at our old house (we moved a year ago). I had it a couple of years before we moved and I never had any problems with it. In my new one, I used the sheets that looks like an old tile ceiling.
