It's a lot of brown. I would switch out the decorative items on the counter for things that are not brown. Every single item on the counter is brown right now. How about a bright orange or red ceramic bowl. And a different condiment basket that is not brown. Go on Williams-Sonoma, Sur La Table, Crate and Barrel, and the many other sites that have that stuff. You will find a lot of colorful things online. What is that circular basket item leaning against the wall on the counter? I've expanded it on my phone, and still cannot figure out what it is doing - does it need to be there?

I'd also switch out the stools for ones that have a brighter cushion (again, not-brown).

As Jan Moyer said, you have a wall that is perfect for art. No brown art though. Something colorful. Color I say.

Thank you for the input. I am not very colorful but I see what you mean. I just looked at your pictures Jan you are incredibly talented love your work. The stools were a gift from my daughter so I think I will add color they art etc. the rug has been a struggle for some reason. Thank you for the advice.

Perhaps you can reupholster the stools, and just explain to your daughter that you love the stools but you need more color, and are willing to go to the expense of keeping the stools and reupholstering them.

I'm curious about your countertops. I am considering Cabrini Grey in the velvet finish, but would love any feedback you may have...

A cold kitchen is easily warmed up with some color, some art, window treatments, some accessories and a rug....or at least three of the five elements.

Agree with others a rug and painting will do it. You can probably do a full 5x7 in there if you want but some colors/inspos for you

How did it turn out?

I think it turned out well. It was done on a budget and I don’t think looks like it. 😀

Any pictures of the end result you could share?

I think the quickest way to "warm up" a kitchen is to bake something in the oven!
