I use solar shades for light and heat control because you still keep the view I like 10 % ones usually. They give you privacy in the daytime but I add drapes for nightime privacy and you space can easily handle both I would mount your TV on the wall beside the fireplace instead of covering up part of that great FP

Thank you. Yeah... we are planning to re-do that wall. Haven’t landed on any good ideas yet. Were you thinking the wall next to the brick, or on the brick close to where the tv currently is?

Shades and drapes will be practical and make an attractive window. Have you considered moving TV out of the glare, right of the dining room door? They make corner cabinets for them if you prefer it cornered. Then float the sofa facing the dining room, aligned with the wall left of the FP where you can hang art centered 5' above the floor. That leaves the play space behind the sofa. The chair can go where the TV is now or maybe by the window, but it looks awfully big. Upgrade your lamps.

I would suggest you first get your furniture layout working for the room. You have created the perfect situation for glare on the TV screen all day long.

The blue line indicates the location of the TV. Although I cannot see the one wall in your photos, you probably have these options for placement.

Add draperies to the window. You may not require solar shades if you change the location of your TV. Also you will be able to use a larger TV in this room if you MOVE IT.
