I don't own a greenhouse (yet) so I can't speak from experience but.

Sometimes units like this are assembled from parts made by other companies, I would check with whoever does your maintenance, they may be able to get parts.

If you do replace it, I would use a company like Modine, who don't specifically make greenhouse heaters but have been around forever. I don't know what the difference would be between a greenhouse heater or a garage heater.

I like the idea of a mini split heat pump, but I don't think they put out enough heat for areas with harsh winters.

In a greenhouse, the heaters have to be water-resistant, and parts need to be anti-corrosive. I have humidity in my greenhouse of 80-100% in winter months. Water hits them. They should work without electricity. In my case, also without a true vent. That's the difference between one for the garage and one for the greenhouse.

Hi James - Looking at that link, I think I need a PhD in heating. This is what I have now (see link below) - the company is out of business, though. I have the one on the left, the C-1, I believe it's called. These Modine heaters seem to require venting, and I have no way to vent, it's a double-paned glass greenhouse. It is attached to my garage and the only vent I have is cut into the garage. My current heaters sit on the floor, where they get air from the outside via a tube that is installed into the greenhouse foundation of cement blocks.

Our hearts were broken when the Southern Burner company went out of business. Besides selling them, we use them in our own greenhouses. I can't tell you how many calls I have received asking for parts. I wish I could help. Regarding the Modine heaters - are they heaters being sold as greenhouse heaters, or are they made specifically for greenhouses? I believe they are just heaters being sold as greenhouse heaters.

I have 2 Southern Burners in my greenhouse. Parts can be obtained from Supplyhouse.com. A new gas valve costs $358, a new power pile costs $35. Get rid of the aluminum tube supplying the pilot light. It corroded where it enters the brass fittings. I am using 1/4 inch copper tubing. I have had trouble with the pilot light going out. Suspected wind coming down smoke stack. I suggest replacing the power pile. I don't know if this will help. In very cold weather the furnace couldn't establish a proper draft to provide air to the burner, because the stack above the roof got too cold. I replaced plain steel stack with Class B insulated stack. Its too soon to know if this will solve the cold stack problem. The furnace structure including the burner tube has held up very well for me. With valve and power pile maintenance I expect more than 20 years service. Am sorry to hear Southern has gone out of business.
