I believe Tronchuda is a cultivar of collards, and the flavor is similar. Maybe milder. I understand that the taste of Senposai is more cabbagy.

I’ve grown Tronchuda Biera Kale, aka Portuguese Kale. It can handle heat. Taste is basically a mild Kale to me, not cabbage-y. I like it, if I only grow one Kale, this is it. My local hardware store carries Renee’s seed and I’d asked the garden orderer to stock it. It’s now her favorite kale and on their shelves all them time.

I grew it some years back and was underwhelmed by the flavor and texture. It was kind of tough and not very tasty, but maybe if I lived where there was colder weather and frost it would've tasted better. All I know is I decided against ever growing it again. Kale is more tender, tastier and just as easy to grow - a better choice, IMO.

Hmm, I find the Senposai to be more similar to collards, which I love, rather than cabbage, which I also like, but mostly raw in various dishes.
