I would keep the fence. Just junk posts from tree limbs would last 15 years or so from my experience. Even the skinny Sassafras lasted that long. I'd change any obviously rotted posts and the netting but only if it needed it. I'd definitely replace some posts if I were replacing the netting.

I'm amazed that your six foot tall fence is keeping them out. I use 12 foot fencing here. I use 5' galvanized fence with three strands of wire. The bottom wire at 7 foot is braided wire so it's fairly thick and visible. The 9'6" wire and the 12 footer are thin solid wire. You don't need strong posts to hold up the wire. The weight isn't very much. You could add plastic to what you have.

Looking at your picture you'd only need new corner posts for the width. And a couple extra along the long side of the orchard. I went in the woods and cut nice straight trees that were about the diameter I needed. I cut an eight inch oak and got three 14 1/2 foot posts out of it. Took me 3 days to get the bottom post out of the woods. Resorted to a 2 wheel dolly under the heavy end.

If you're in an urban area I'd suggest barbed wire cause of the price, and it's more visible. I've also noticed that deer won't jump into clutter or a small area. They won't jump into an 11 foot by 14 foot area. They don't jump into my neighbors garden because it's all raised beds.

But what you have works so I'd keep what you have.

Thanks for the feedback it’s true the orchard is tucked in the back field away from public view. Certainly doesn’t need to look pretty and I do have several wooded acres + a tractor. I’ll get off my lazy behind and go cut a few replacement poles, then rehang repair the fencing. It will probably end up being less work than removing all that stuff anyway!
