I have no idea without seeing something of your style IMo you changed from an very elegant foyer to sometign very rustic and to know what the reasoning was I would nned to see your style of the spaces off the foyer. All I see in your idea books is nothing like what you have now done.

what do you want the space to be for? hanging a lot of art? pausing to take shoes and boots off? having a cocktail gathering? it's a pretty big space, so I'd think about function before worrying about design...

What's your dilemma?

Board & Batten or Shiplap on the walls

Some type of special treatment on the curved ceiling

Distressed Wood table or stone table

How large is the house that a room that large is only a foyer?

Have you already changed the flooring from tile to brick (as it appears from the two ?before/after? pics?

How large is the room?

Is that overhead light fixture in the center of the room?

Do you want formal (as the original light fixture appears to suggest) or something more contemporary (as the brick floor appears to suggest) -- what vibe do you seek to convey?

If the "message" first you want to convey to guests is "wealth", you're going in the opposite direction with brick flooring beneath that gaudy overhead light fixture.

If the "feel" you want for the room is "practical", you'll need to divide the room to identify a smaller entry and create a usable space behind that.

Not marble and not brick. I would have installed hydronic heated floors under porcelain tile. A foyer should introduce you, your style and hint at what one can expect as they move into the other rooms. It's the "expectation setter," (a la GW) if you will. Without further input about you, your style and what you're doing elsewhere, we are working blind.

Exactly we need more info about your style a foyer is not designed in a vacuum it needs to reflect the rest of your home.

So we bought a farm. The house was originally built in 1972 with a lodge like great room, built by a single doctor who used this house as his "party palace" .This foyer had been the kitchen initially. It became the house that Frankenstein built, with subsequent owners adding rooms and styles willy-nilly. The dining room had a domed ceiling and ornate columns (just horrible!). The den had heavy mahogany ornately carved bookcases. The kitchen is newer- a classic black and white farmhouse looking kitchen. The powder room has terracotta style tile and a furniture style vanity with a blue bowl sink.

We took out the dome and columns from the dining room and added beams to match the style of the great room. We removed the ornate bookcases, too, from the den. I haven't tackled the powder room.

We were trying to make it look more casual and comfortable. I like a mix of antiques and contemporary furniture.

The foyer has a solid front door, right across from french door that open to a back patio. No one ever goes through those doors.

This is the "great room" which is also a work in progress. Off the foyer. I want to change the carpet and upholstery, eventually. Too floral, too busy. I just bought the previous owner's stuff since I did'th ave enough furniture to fill the space.

More pics of the space, how it relates to other rooms and ideas of your style would be useful. The only thing I know I would do is haunt antique stores/sites for a spectacular "casual" table and look at a lot of not particularly rustic lighting. ;-)

What a terrific chance to make something wonderful. I like the way you're going. I've always loved entries that connect wings and surprise with a view/door directly outside on another wall. Bright and airy and suggesting a great inside-outside relationship. I'd probably want to use that for inspiration, and the brick of course would be a good start, with the foyer comfortably indoors but still transitional between the outdoors and the cozier spaces off.
