How to install hooks in the ceiling and wall during construction?

Good morning,

We are building a new house and the construction just started. I love hanging plants from ceilings and was wondering whether I can get some strong hooks in the sheetrock rather than later drilling and destroying the wall/ceiling in the process. Did anyone try it installing during the construction period? I'm not going crazy with it, probably 1-2 hooks on each corner of the room.

Finish your construction and move your furniture in. Once you have your furniture in place, you will see where a hanging plant or two would fit and look good. Your furniture arrangement is far more important. Hanging plants should complement the furniture arrangement....they don’t come first.

I have never had an issue with this you use a proper hook support in the drywall or if you are lucky the screw hits a stud. How would you know now where you will hang a plant at this stage

How about an update and don't do that? : ) If you must, get a tall shelved etagere and cluster in one well lit spot.

Really ? Don't they drip water down ....onto the floor ..., I would finish the house and rethink putting hanging plants ...look at HOUZZ for newer inventions and practical spots for plants in a house ....

Drywall installers will not be able to hang drywall without removing the hooks. They would have to make holes bigger than the diameter of the lower portion of the hook in the drywall. In addition, the hook would be recessed in the 3/8” drywall . To reassure yourself that this is not a good idea, take a sheet of paper and try to slip it over one of your existing hooks.
