p.s. I called another local glass store (with "Affordable" in its name) and owner said price for what we're looking for would be $312. Seemed a little high to me, but he said it's because they take extra care to seal the edges, unlike much of what's found in cheaper mirrors. He mentioned the reason people usually go with framed mirrors is to help prevent "mirror rot," that blackening that sometimes happens around frame edges, especially where moisture creeps in. He said in a frameless mirror, it's especially important to make sure all edges are well sealed.

I'm thinking back to the good ol' days when I wouldn't have given a second thought to the bits of black around the edges of mirrors! :-D

Frames protect mirror edges from impact and moisture damage.

I had a mirror installed in my newly-tiled powder room. I used a rectangular mirror -- no bevel -- and the architect specified that the edges of the mirror follow the grout lines of the tile. In your case, the mirror could start at the grout line above the faucet (so as not to reflect the back of the faucet) and stop at the grout line below the light. It could follow the vertical grout lines, exposing two tiles on each side. I think that would look really nice.

My mirror was installed with CRL Gunther Ultra/Bond Mirror Mastic (if you read the reviews, you'll find that one knucklehead expected the mirror to immediately not slide down the wall; no, it has to be supported until the mastic cures).

Get a PRO to hang it so you don't ruin the wall. Don't worry about the next person.

I agree get a simple metal framed mirror and what was the reason for the white tile just out of curiosity.

LOL??? they ran OUT of tile? Never look in a mirror? I was going to ask the same thing.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting, originally we were not planning to tile behind the mirror at all. Partly because I didn't think we needed to, and partly because we had quite a bit of breakage upon delivery and I wanted to play it safe with the amount of good tile we had. But then we decided to go ahead and place unneeded tile samples there (including the white "teeth"), figuring they'd be covered by the mirror anyway.

We got a chuckle out of the idea of someone someday removing the mirror and wondering about the meaning of those 8 white tiles. Perhaps I'll include a mysterious note (about giant teeth?) and stick it behind the mirror before install to add to the intrigue! :)

As it turned out, we ended up having more than enough tile left over, and now I am planning to use it for a bedside table and a few other projects.

Thanks @BeverlyFLADeziner. He was hoping for one without bevel (or frame). Today our4th attempt arrived and it's frameless with just a slight bevel--that will be the one installed tomorrow! Your illustration looks just like it!

Beveling is a finishing touch to glass or mirror that is considered higher end, as it adds more labor, more detail, and costs more to do. The wider the bevel the more expensive; it can get very costly to add beveling. I had my glass inserts on my kitchen upper cabinet doors beveled 1" all around, and the upcharge was worth it to me for the appearance.

@Miranda33, thanks! Those are Seneca Studio tiles from Ohio. Color is Sea Glass. My son chose them. They are gorgeous in person!

@Mittens Cat - thank you for that info! They are gorgeous. May I also ask what size your tiles are? I looked on the SenecaStudio website, and there are at least 8 rectangle sizes!
