Coax Cable stuck in wall

While removing a coax outlet connection and plate, the cable fell into the wall. Can't back it out from the exterior wall because the female connector is larger than the hole in the exterior wall. Have tried fishing it back through the hole in the interior wall, and it is sometimes visible but won't go all the way through, the whole run is probably only 12-18 inches or so. Is there a simple way to fish this through without drilling a larger hole in the interior drywall? It would be covered by the outlet plate so I guess it's an option.
