They are not cookbooks that I can tell. Move all to the den or spare bedroom. Leave wall without shelves and add a nice art piece instead.

But wall shelves would look good too, it depends on what you are putting there. 4 ft wide picture ledges about 3 or 4 would give you a freestyle gallery wall where you can lean pictures and change as you like. If they are on studs you can lean lighter books or objects too. Beautiful kitchen! As prev stated though if you want pictures on this wall no need for ledges, just do a gallery wall.

I don't think you would want shelves sticking out on that wall, and especially not staggered ones. The kitchen is nicely done, so keep the wall sophisticated, also. I would put one large piece of art on the wall, as it appears you have a built-in media unit right next to it.

You have a beautiful kitchen/family room. Because you seem to enjoy Books over Bellinis, I wound leave the books, substitute the shelving for a rectangular 3-tier bar cart (stylish & mobile), add one proportionate landscape-oriented painting (no taller than the highest shelf in the built-ins). Also, the doorknob should be changed to match either the metal from the lights or cabinet hardware.Home

I Do have a large piece of art to the left of the built in media area, above the fireplace so probably another large one might not look right, but maybe the black n white group in black frames. (Although I have groups of black n white photos in frames in 2 other areas of my house)

That’s a throughway past the island with chairs.. when people are in the chairs others need to walk by, shelves sticking out may pose a problem with people hitting their head/face... i like the bench with artwork above ideas

The artwork that you put on this wall should compliment the artwork over the fireplace. It will probably look fine.

IMO those sjelves would be in a real traffic zone and not a good idea. A fab piece of art hung there could be quite large and a much better choice There is abosolutely no reason art needs to complement other art either BTW with the colors in your kitchen those yellow lights are not doing it any favors

So Patricia Colwell Consulting is saying artwork does not need to compliment in your home, thus....you can have jazz artwork in one spot, flower artwork in another spot, animal artwork in another spot..etc...interesting!

Artwork, not shelves. That will be a traffic hazard.

The bookshelf there hasn’t been a traffic hazard as it’s only 13” wide and I have about 6’ between the island and the wall. I thought of just replacing with a white bookshelf since I have many art books I love, but maybe a wall of photos would look better and more open.
Also, to Patricia Colwell regarding lighting, we used 3000k led in there. It might look yellow in the photo, but trying the 4000k, everything looked cold and blue. The over cabinet pods most standard are 3000k.
