Japanese Christmas Tree

I grew this Japanese Maple from a first year seedling. It was rescued from beneath two side by side, twenty foot tall, Acer palmatum. One had a red tone. The other was in the yellow range. I chose this seedling from dozens because of the red color in the first true leaves.

But you never know what you are going to get. I got a reddish one.

The fall color got freeze dried and is stuck on. I'm still waiting for it to fully undress. I hope it happens by Christmas.

More bling keeps getting added. I find things. The ravens are forever commenting as they cruise over head. I am on their regular route. Peckerheads.

This tree is eight, maybe nine years old. The wire cage is so it isn't used as a cat scratching post. Japanese maples have enough troubles up here with early fall and late spring freezes. No need for their trunks to get shredded too.

No need for a Christmas tree inside. And when the sun is just right......
