Not a fan of the plan ... but not a pro either.

You could get more help from the pros if you post your entire floor plan, to scale, as is and let the Houzz pros know what your most important objectives are ... not just a maybe wish list.

Are the windows existing? Can they be moved?

I can’t really see much of that plan. You’ve got 5 pics squeezed into one pic. Post a kitchen floor plan with measurements. Those odd pictorials don’t really convey things well.

The window above the kitchen sink currently exists, the other one we put in. At this stage we're considering all possibilities, so windows can move or be created.

Ok. I asked about the windows because your sink is too far from your fridge. In a kitchen with one sink, you should be able to go from fridge to sink to stove without criss crossing for best work flow, and the best prep area is between sink and stove. So your family would be tripping over each other in your plan.

Is that refrigerator wall recessed for a reason?

How about a prep sink?

If your base cabinets (the ones under the counter top overhang) have top drawers, you won't be able to utilize them.

I would eliminate the bookcase thing behind the bench in the seating area.. little ones on and off and in and out of there would be difficult.. I’d have just skinny table with bench against the wall, movable table and couple of chairs... too many chairs around the island... that’s a lot of moving chairs to clean crumbs!! I’d make the island skinnier too close to the fireplace thing.. is that a must have? I would’ve have that it cuts into the flow

If you eliminate the fireplace you can have a longer skinnier island and get better utilization of it...
