Build a wooden frame over the W/D area and paint it white. Add sliding or removable panels to the face of it, add a shelf.

I painted the plastic box the same color as the wall and that helped a lot.

A carpenter could build a very shallow frame just deep enough to cover hookups, fronted with a pair of sliding doors which you can easily open if you ever have to access the hook ups and electrical . I’d be glad to have such handy access to the hookups. Not that it happens often but when you do need access, what a major pain to have to reach down and behind and or pull machines out. If your doing shelving or cabinetry above, the sliders would practically disappear. Or, just paint the hook up insert same color as wall as another person suggested. It’s a utility space after all.

They should NOT be covered. They should be fully accessible with a water shut-off valve that is used. I shut the water off every time the washing machine finishes running. This removes pressure from the hoses. My plumber redid my laundry room and said he won't install washing machines without a local cut-off. Doesn't have to be this one, but something that reduces the pressure on the hoses. it looks like you have dual cut-offs - twice the work. With a single lever cut-off, it's easy to do every time.
