Foyer console table decor

I want to keep the mirror, table and glass bowl. What to paint the walls/inset?

what type height and style of lamp for left side and what should I put on right side?

    I would move the glass to the right side, and use one tall buffet lamp on the left. Keep it simple. The color for the alcove needs to have some connection to the rooms around it. What color are the walls in adjacent rooms? You can use a deeper version of one of those.
