Here are the prototypes on one of their designers’ Instagram account. She said the door on the left is the current Bodbyn gray.

Hurray! I was going to use grey Bodbyn, but it looks purple to me and I don't love how shiny it is. I was also considering buying faces somewhere else but it's expensive. This might be the best option, although that grey is very dark. I wish that front warm grey/green would be an option.

@mollyri These are just prototypes - she didn’t say which would be launched. They may well have picked that warm grey.

What did you think of them in person?

I picked up a door to see if I want to do the gray on my island instead of the white. It’s very dark. I think I got too used to having white up so I’m undecided!

Oh wow. It almost looks black. That was not what I was imagining.

It has more gray to it in person that the picture shows. It reminds me of the paint color Peppercorn (sherwin Williams I think?)

Seems like a nice shade. I can see a lot of people doing the Axstad white uppers with dark gray lowers.

It's nice, but just too dark for my space.

They already have the deep charcoal lehyrttan, I wish they'd opted for that taupe-y gray in the front instead...

I'm hoping to try to see them in person tomorrow but I'm worried they are too dark too. They already have lehyrttan AND voxtorp- don't understand the decision for another dark grey. Since I've started this project they've introduced two new door colors. I'm sure just as soon as I'm finished with my kitchen they will introduce the perfect grey taupe.

I saw them in person- they are the same color/material as the dark grey voxtorp. I didn't think they were too dark and that's probably what I would have picked, but apparently a bunch of other doors are about to go on sale.

Any idea which door styles will be going on sale? I've been holding off on my order hoping for a Veddinge sale, but it hasn't happened yet

How has the gray Axstad worn?

Has anyone paint matched the Axstad grey? Looking for a SW or BM.

I cannot locate a cover panel in the axstad grey. Is it the same as the Voxtorp? Thanks to any one who has orsered these.

It’s the same as the Voxtorp. Just had my kitchen installed with all axstad grey and it’s beautiful. Looking to color match it so I can paint the inside of the microwave cabinet

I read on line that the grey shows fingermarks. Is that true?

@marywhitted do you have a picture of your finished kitchen in axstad grey, would love to see one in someone’s home rather than a showroom before we order ours. what worktop did you put with it?

I chose a white quartz from MSI called Calcutta Trevi that has very subtle grey veins like marble. I am so happy with it. It’s not completely done, I’m still attaching hardware but it could not be more perfect. I’m an interior designer and ive used the Semihandmade fronts before and these are of the same if not better quality!! They are a true 3/4 in thick door. No one believes that they are IKEA.

So if you use ikea and semi handmade what do you end up saving over custom cabinets?

Tammy Genesove, I do find the fingerprints show. They need a daily wipe, but I also don’t have all my hardware yet...

@Jenn Vlahos Thats the Bedrosians Chloe 5x5 in white. They have it in a 2x12 as well. The color and variation is beautifu!!

If you go with the ikea and semi hand made for the doors, at the end of the days is it still a significant saving percentage wise?

Semi handmade is just more plastic wrap Thermofoil doors. Expensive ones too. If you’re wanting a quality wood cabinet, that isn’t the route to get it. Local custom is an option, but if you want frameless, look at KitchenCraft, Innovae, Omega, Eclipse, or Showplace. You might also want to read this thread. You have to actually like IKEAs products *and* do the labor, both, in order for them to be cost effective.

Celadon, So does it go wood, mdf, thermofoil in terms of order of quality and price? I know this is a hard question but if wood is the 100 percent highest quality, what percentage would you give mdf and what percentage thermofoil, in terms of quality.

It depends. There are high quality and low quality in each category. A high quality European high pressure thermofoil, which SH or Ikea is not, is a much better cabinet than a low quality wood cabinet. It also depends on your expectations for resistance to wear, and what kind of wear. There is no hard and fast rule, other than quality generally is correlated with price.

We did the grey Axstad on the bottom with the white on top. Yes, it is very dark but my kitchen gets lots of light. It's about 75 years old so the shaker look suited it well. We had them built them in and used a different brand of hardware which was ridiculously expensive but I absolutely love the look. We also went with a very light grey wall colour and white (grey vein) quartz.

Yes, fingerprints show but not as much as my two dogs used to dirty the lower cabinets. Now I am trying to match the grey for the built-in cupboard in the living room. Any ideas?

Looks great. You are lucky you finished for IKEA has zero kitchen cabinet inventory presently and for at least the last four months :(

Depends on where you are. We were able to get ours for our basement kitchenette project with little to no delay- but we are in the Midwest. I know there were more issues in CA and out east.

East coast here but only two stores now are available even for pickup and both have very low inventory. Michigan has a few still and I think Indiana was the other.

Went to IKEA today to check out the Axstad white and dark grey. @marywhitted we are considering the dark grey lowers with white uppers in our 10 x 14 kitchen with peninsula (or maybe all white tbd) and bedrosian chloe white subway :) yours looks fabulous! Any more pics to share by chance?

We hadn't yet put on toekicks or trim pieces, but we redid our kitchen in the Axstad gray and the black island that appears to not be available anymore. Tingsryd? Something like that. I'd wanted a navy but that wasn't available then. Looks like it is now though. Hardware is from Amazon.

We've had it all in since April of 2020. It's worn wonderfully, still looks new. If the fingers are particularly greasy, it will show them, but otherwise it's not really noticeable, imo. I just wipe them down every so often and it's fine.

Hi everyone - Love the Axstad grey and white, and plan on installing it in a home I'm building, but am worried that because IKEA discontinued the dark Sektion boxes you can see the white from the Sektion box interior/frame. @marywhitted - can you see any white lines on your gray Axstad kitchen cabinets because of the white interior Sektion boxes? I don't see any in the pictures but could imagine it may be an issue near the dishwasher or built-in microwave. Thanks for any help you can lend!

This is my dark grey axstad kitchen and I love it. Still need to backsplash, which I have but need a good wall color. Open to ideas 😁
