Calla bulbs extra deep for survival in zone 6

I lift my callas every fall, but they are huge and grow really strong every spring. I wonder if anyone has tried planting extra deep (12 inches?) to see if that would keep them through a zone 6b winter. Mine grow so strong that I think they might not have any problem popping up in 12 in. of good garden soil. Anyone ever tried and had success?

Absolutely worth a try. I don't grow them but have heard people say their calla lilies have overwintered here and there, and I believe a few strains of the larger white c. aethiopica are much hardier than people give them credit for.

That's what I've read. And they also grow a lot more robustly than some of the others, so maybe they could work. Now all I need is a source of the bulbs.
