Yep, one very large framed canvas would be my choice as well. I wouldn't find that boring, but classically sophisticated.

However, if that still doesn't float your boat, you could always do a grouping of large framed prints (but it will still "read" as one large installation).

I disagree that it lacks personality. You are clearly putting it all together right now and I think it is coming along nicely. What does the space look like without Christmas decor? How is your mantel normally etc? If you wanted to add more you could do three framed pictures of places travelled, family or similar.

Too many mirrors in the living area and the big mirrors are doing nothing for the room. The mantel decor is seriously unbalanced. I would redo that wall.

In the dining room, I'd do one large canvas, or two or three smaller ones in a row.

The mantel is clearly set up for Christmas not every day! My goodness there are Scrooges a plenty here

You have good bones going. I wonder if hanging those two big mirrors horizontally in dining room after centering table and pendant lights might work really well. Then do art either side of mantel with minimalist look on mantel. Are those floor lamps? Or table lamps?

Use one of your big mirrors over the mantel instead of that dinky one. Hang art on the sides.

A couple concepts. Art would need to be selected but size is important.
