the cost diff for changing colors for wall paint shouldn't be that much. If you don't want white walls, then choose a soft color. you'll be living with for awhile, so get what you want.

I did all of my ceilings in the base white paint straight out of the can. You don't have to have it tinted. The white base in the can is a pure, bright white. Perfectly fine to use as is.

for all of my trim work I did BM Simply White. I also used it on the walls in my family room.

As for sheen, flat for the ceiling, and an eggshell for the walls is usually what's used. Satin will have a very slight sheen so most people shy away from that. I personally don't like a flat or matte for my walls as it's difficult to clean off any scuffs or dirt.

Trim work should be done in nice neutral white in a semi gloss or gloss finish.

Here is Snowbound on the walls, and all of the trim work is done in Pure White.

this is one of my favorite combos. it would go w/just about everything. Pale Oak (BM) on the walls and White Dove on all of the trim/doors.

Flat paint on the ceiling, eggshell finish on the walls, especially if you have children, and satin finish on trim. I don't like semi on trim, too shiny. Use the same white for trim and ceiling, just the finish changes. Pick a wall color. : )

If you use the same color on the ceiling and on the walls, the ceiling will look DARKER than the walls. I suggest you use SW Ceiling Paint that you see below for your ceilings. It is specially formulated to hide imperfections on the ceiling.

White paint colors

Would love to see a picture. Have the same east and west exposures and my contractor is suggesting this color for my kitchen cabinets.

This is our kitchen taken in the evening, and the cabinets are SW Snowbound.

This is it during the day, prior to our ovens arriving.

The walls are painted SW Snowbound; I have yet to pick out backsplash and so much detailed work needs to be completed.

The only thing left to paint is our walk-in MBcloset. Overall, I am very happy with this paint color as it looks good in every room.

Thank you for sharing; pictures help so much! I have oak floors in my kitchen also (well, I will when we get to that point) so this picture is even more helpful. SW Snowbound looks good; I'm going to use it. Did you use the same paint color on the ceiling, door casing and door?

Our ceiling is a flat white. The exterior door and casing are white, and the doors to our basement are painted snowbound.

I want to add that the exterior door looks good in whit, but would look good in snowbound too too.

Based on the comments it seems then that going with the SW CEILING PAINT (that does not allow a color change) works fine with the rooms that have Walls painted in SW SNOWBOUND? I'm going with a few different paint colors throughout our home, mostly SW Crushed Ice, but just want to be sure if I have Snowbound in some rooms that the white Snowound color does not CONFLICT with with the Ceiling Paint. Even sampling it on the wall I'm concerned. I was thinking about painting the ceilings SW Snowbound throughout the house, but a little concerned if ceiling would like different in Snowbound. Have sampled but still not sure.

If you are referring to BeverlyFLADeziner's post regarding the SW Ceiling paint, if you click on it you will see that the color is actually Ultra White. What I found in completing my kitchen remodel and painting it and surrounding rooms is that the white (or any color for that matter) you choose really depends on the light that comes into the room and from which direction. And, it will change color as the day progresses. It's really quite maddening. I suggest you either paint some samples on the wall or put up those large square pieces that companies sell (so you can move them around the room over the course of the day) to see how they look in Your space. I also found it helpful, in narrowing down choices, to google "what color white looks good on west facing walls." Kylie M. Interiors had good YouTube videos and her articles had good information of what to look for.

I used SW Snowbound for my cabinets and love the color. Very crisp and clean and no undertones that I can detect (yellow, green, blue, red). My kitchen faces East and West. So the window you see is on the East side (the walls are West Facing). And after watching paint over the course of the day and moving squares around, I decided to go with DE Swiss Coffee for the ceilings and the door/trim and SW Canvas Tan on the West Facing kitchen wall. The refrigerator cabinet and island is painted in BM Kensington Blue. All other walls (North, South, East) in the Living Room and Dining Room were painted DE Swiss Coffee.

why not just use white dove on the walls in an eggshell? is the trim satin or semi gloss? if so, it's going to look a bit brighter.

My issue is the rest of house is white dove on ceiling and trim. i tried snowbond on walls and didn’t realize how close they would be.

should i change walls? yikes! they already kina finished the wall painting.

I repainted them w/Simply White. (trim too) Was so much better.

Ceiling paint is a regular white, w/no added tint to it. the ceiling is always going to look darker than the walls. YOu should repaint the ceiling in something like Snowbound or just the base white.

up to you what you want to do. If they have another coat to do, have them do it in Simply white or Snowbound.

I agree the Snowbound will look brighter against the White Dove. I would caution regarding the Snowbound on the ceiling, I considered it and had the painter paint many large samples in different areas and it took on a taupe/pink tone against my SW Crushed Ice walls and all dark wood floors and this is in an area that faces the west with a lot of afternoon sun. I ended up going with the SW Ceiling paint and its is awesome no matter what color is on your walls, it hides the imperfections if any in your ceiling too. I was originally concerned with the Ceiling paint conflicting with walls in some rooms painted Snowbound and cabinets up to the ceiling in Snowbound but no issue at all where the wall or cabinets meet the ceiling.

That's why I also mentioned just painting the ceiling a base white. Or a ceiling paint. I've never used a tinted white on my ceiling. I usually just get teh Base 1 paint, have them add white tint to it, and use that.

I have been making all the ceiling in my house flat and the Sherwin Williams was out of the Eminence ceiling paint so I started to use the ProMar 200 Extra White Flat. I really like that stuff. Looks great as a ceiling paint. That is on the contractor side, but usually if you ask you can get it. Another white you might want to look at is Greek Villa SW 7551. It was a suggested pairing for the color Drizzle SW 6479. Really nice neutral color.

greek villa is rather warm and leans yellowish/brown. I would never use that for a ceiling (unless the entire room was done in all warm, natural linen colors.

For the wall I think it's nice. this is greek villa-walls, with BM White Dove on the trim. ceilings are a flat white.

I agree, I wasn't clear the way I worded that. Extra White on ceiling and Greek Villa for walls.

Question… If SW Snowbound is used on cabinets and a griege like Agreeable Gray or other is on the walls, would it be ok to use snowbound on trim and doors when you use a basic white flat ceiling paint? Or should you do a different color for the trim and doors?
