That is the issue with large sectionals - they don't always work in new spaces. I would try placing the TV flat on the long wall, and turn the sectional so it curves into the front window area with the back toward the entryway. That gives you an open area toward the other end of the room for a couple of chairs and your horizontal art. The art needs to be hung much lower - the middle of it should be at eye level when you're standing.

What’s the dimensions of the room? Looks to me like a living/dining room. The ceiling light location where your cat stuff is looks like it was meant to go over a table. If the room is large enough, move the sofa closer to the tv and add a table and chairs under the light. (Get a new light)

agree with calidesign. just because the room is open to the entry doesn't mean that the seating arrangement has to be. get the TV out of the window!

There’s a separate dining area on the other side of the wall so we wouldn’t want to put the dining room under the light.

The sofa is awkward. We’ll replace it in a few years and can get something that caters to the room better. My husband is sort of against having the back of the couch by the front door but I sort of think that’s our best option. It’s a tough space..

acm I said the location of the light, not the light fixture itself. Which is why I told her to replace it.
I’m just saying based on that, the room was most likely originally designed to be living/dining. But, if you don’t want the extra dining space then it really doesn’t matter. Use it for whatever you want
