oursteelers unfortunately no. If you click to enlarge the pic you can see damage at 12,1,3,5,6,7,9 o'clock. It got munched at the pip stage and again several times throughout the season. We had rain every day until the end of June so spraying was pretty much pointless.

Sunnywood and Laurie, I’m drooling over those Emerald Roughcut. Mine got demolished by hail last May, it’s second season here. I’m not sure it survived the summer, it didn’t want to recover : (

Emerald Ruff Cut is not easy, my first one died after one year, but I gave it another chance. It is beautiful...

Peren, even with that dmg I think it looks good. Mine were chomped on after they’d leafed out and they never recovered.

nw, I wish i knew who those limes were. I think you’d really like them-they tolerate being divided GREAT! And when you have a big property that is an excellent quality to have.

karin, I really liked that early times. It looks like it would be a great complementary hosta!

Re my Empress Wu.

I bought 3 as single divisions about six years ago.

They all grew well in pots and two were planted out about 4 years ago.

One in deep shade as above.

This one in full sun, picture from 2018

The other lives in a 35litre pot.

My plan is to move it into the greenhouse this year to use its pollen on my streaked plants.

peren.all your El Nino is amazing and yes get Earth Angel planted it looks better every year. I love your Emerald Ruff Cut, if mine doesn't perk up this year I will dig it up and see if there are any issues. I try cheap pinwheels from the dollar store for a deer deterent. Seams to help but not a cure all.

dj, what's really amazing is how well it performs under a mature Norway maple, and white pines. I must have found just the right spot in that root zone. I've shovel divided off of it several times to keep the eye-count down, to keep a more dramatic vase-shaped form, as per someone's suggestion on this forum, way back when I discovered this group. As long as there isn't excessive heat, or rainfall, it holds that blue color for a few weeks, love it!
