How old is this Speed Queen?

I found it in a house my nephew is buying. The estate agents had piled junk all around it, but we could see the tub looked very clean and new. Model # AWN412SP111TW01. Does anyone know the age of,this model? Was it one of the ”good” Queenies? He needs to decide if he wants to negotiate for the washer to convey. Many thanks.

Serial numbers are more precise for age of appliances, they're usually coded for the year and month (or week) of manufacture. Model numbers reflect the year of introduction to the sales market but a given model may be produced for longer than a year.

Appliance411.com has a decoder. Some brands repeat the serial coding on a 12 year cycle (or 20 years or whatever it may be) so some other clues may be needed to pinpoint the age.

Looks like production was from around 2012-ish.

In looking at the owners manual online some pics show 2011 while others show 2012 on the date of manual printing as well.

Thanks, guys, FWIW, the serial # is 1204000325. So probably 2012 and a good machine, I think?

Yes, it is. That is about the same age as my SQ AWN412. No problems with it other than the knobs on the controls..the plastic stems crack. We've wrapped them tightly with wire. I need to add some more wire wraps and coat it all with some epoxy, JB Weld... The stems are hidden so the repair doesn't have to be pretty.

It's likely, if in good condition, a better machine than you can buy new.
