Maybe something like this, but you'd need to change the console table. It does not really compliment the rest of the room.

A tall thin lamp with a medium or white shade will permit more light to be available and with a smaller base, you can add other items to the table. While I usually prefer a medium to large shade for lamps, if your objective is to frame art or a mirror or a clock, you might want the narrower shades.

Tall thin lamps are my preference -- wood or metal post lamps ones are worth considering. One of my own metal lamps is a mostly silver color; another is a bronze color that is shaped to resemble a bamboo pole (segments). Metal lamps last for a lot of years and can be repainted any color and continue to look good.

Thank you for your replies
I have considered a different table but that may be a project for down the road.
I will look into taller thin lamps it is a high vaulted ceiling
The material of the art above the table is zebra wood with a resin river but I may replace that with some larger art.

Might this nickel base be similar to handle, etc...

I agree about the table. It looks utilitarian like a kitchen table or office credenza, not gracious like your room. The art piece above it looks teeny. A big lamp would be great, and another big lamp between the two chairs.

I would not buy the lamps without first buying a new table. There's some good deals on tables right now.

The lamp that I posted is mercury glass, 33" tall, $119.00.

Can anyone recommend what style/color of table would accent better?
Thank you!

You need something that is more transitional. Can we see more of the room.

and are there any other colors you accent with in rest of your house? to consider here.

Lamps need to serve a purpose, and they serve no purpose on that small console table.

If you own that house, please consider paying an electrician to install a ceiling fixture in the living and dining area.

If you don't want to do that, then please put lamps where they serve a purpose.

For example:

1. Get a larger side table between the two chairs and put a lamp there that would serve the purpose as a reading lamp and as ambient lighting as well.

2. Get a nice floor lamp that can accommodate a three way bulb and plug it in at the outlet between the couch and the chair and that will serve as ambient lighting. (some beautiful vintage torcheres can be found)

Pull the two lounge chairs away from the wall

Add a round coffee table

Select one buffet style lamp for the console table

Thank you for the input a coffee table can’t be added because we have kids that play in there when we are not entertaining.
A ceiling light can’t be installed, it is a vaulted ceiling with no cold space above it.

Those are the other angles of the sunken formal living room. The formal dining room is a black granite table with a silver and black side board and the other color themes are basically grey and white with a pop of color depending on the room

Instead of buying a new table, paint the base and legs of this one -- NOT THE TOP -- black. You'll find it changes the vibe of the piece.

Idk right size but for balancing of table lamp with small resin art - take this for what it's worth - I think the clock doesn't help the balance now that we see the entire area. This large a canvas could help:

I wouldn't do two lamps but one with a little more presence than a small one.
