I actually haven’t made a list yet.....but I do love Appletini, Emerald Ruff Cut and El Niño. I have limited space and am especially looking for sun tolerant ones for my new sun bed. But I have hostas I have that could be moved there and and plants that need shade purchased and planted in those places. Oh and there was one I think Sunnywood showed, maybe Evening Blush (?) that I liked as well!

Beth, those are the kind of lists I make! its like the sears catalogue When I was little! Circle everything and then reality sets in and you start crossing things off.

I still have last years list that i didn't get and a few from previous years. Mostly my time and energy level prohibits me from fulfilling them (financial levels also a factor). :-(

I made a long list, pared it down some, and ordered the day after Christmas. Naylor's was already sold out of both Skywriter and Binkie, so the list for next year is already started. I did get:

    Amalia

    Blue Elf

    Coast to Coast

    Country Mouse

    Effervescence

    Gentle Giant

    Goldbrook Glimmer

    Green with Envy

    Little Star Struck

    Munchkin Fire

    Paisley Border

    Purple Ventriculated Elf

    Sahara Nights

    Sizzle

    Woodland Elf

Pretty much my standard mix, lots of minis, lots of solid colors. Am hoping for some Valleys next year. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, the Hosta Library now has a complete listing of all the Valley hostas, thoroughly drool worthy.

I have a much smaller list this year:

    Danubie Isla

    Effervescence

    Erotica

    First Love

    Hotshot

    Owen's Outrage

    Silver Tongued Devil

    Stag's Leap

    Wundergold

Still a few I'm looking for (Like Quiet Wyatt)

Well now I have to add Danubie Isla to the list for 2021, love the rather unique yet somewhat subtle coloration. Was already planning on Silver Tongued Devil, Don Dean does have a way with the blues.

You (and Lindalana) will love Stag's Leap, it's really a standout and looks great all season. Not a fast grower, although with more sun it will be a bit quicker to add divisions. It will take full sun if given adequate water and some mulch.

Thanks for the tips. I noticed Linda had quite a few I was also interested in. Snicker's Surprise was my last cut. Stag's Leap probably wouldn't have made the cut if I hadn't seen and heard about it here. I think I have some spots with afternoon sun that I may try it in.

Can I ask where you all are purchasing these hostas from?

    I love being an enabler.

My list is entirely from Naylor Creek. They have many hostas that you won't find elsewhere, and the plants are very nice indeed. However, they do sell out of some of the less common varieties fairly quickly, so if you see something you love, don't wait too long to order. In their catalog you will be able to see how many of each variety they have in stock. Once something is sold out, it disappears from the catalog, so be aware that they do have quite a few varieties that have already sold out and will not appear in the catalog listings. Most of these will be available next year.

    hey beth ...

name one hosta that isnt on your to die for list ... lol ...

    ken

ps: you remind me of someone ... but i refuse to remember who it was ... lol ...

ohhhh karin .... lol .. even worse ... one looks bad ... so you order 7 replacements ??????

my...my... been there done that ... lol ...

    ken

ken, normally I would have ordered around 100 at this time of the year :-) So 7 is like nothing :-)

And the worst excuse of all...I order from a small nursery in Austria and freight costs are high, so I order more hosta to reduce the freight costs per plant :-)

Actually I have prepared a list with around 100 hosta to sell in spring and I have a lot of people who are really interested in buying.

so I order more hosta to reduce the freight costs per plant :-)

    ==>>> yeah.. i remember that logic ... lol ...

this post is funny..make a list but you don't need to stick to it..buy whatever you want that's not on the list..one disappointing or dead hosta equals multiple replacements..any number that you like..5? 10? 15? 20?..don't pay too much for shipping..spend enough on plants until the shipping is reasonable..I agree with all of this reasoning Lol..

In the end I will order 10 or maybe 20. Of course so my shipping cost isn't too high :)

Inspiration! I found Regalia so I had to order some bodyguards and look at some other retailers too (no excuse for that, just did it). Ended up ordering these:

    Gentle Giant

    Lemon Love Note

    Obsession

    Ogon Tsushima

    Pearly Gates

    Regalia

    Blaze of Glory

    Cloudburst

    Dawn's Early Light (Thanks alphabet)

    Ginsu Knife

    Mango Tango

    Tomahawk

Blaze of Glory is a very nice hosta, doesn't get much mention, but it's one of my favorites. Stands out for the coloration, stays very bright all season, and grows well in almost any situation. It looks like a Montana type, but doesn't have any of that in it's immediate background, which consists mostly of plants with more rounded leaves and a more spreading habit. Blaze of Glory will have a more elongated, pointed leaf, is more upright, and it's early to rise in the spring, the Montana line is known for this. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bright yellow upright hosta in the large range.

Nice bodyguards! I got a piece of Regalia from Dave last year and was really happy about it.

No excuses this time...free shipping special and 1 surprise hosta extra :-)

    Annabelle Lee

    Sunset Groves

    Teacher's Pride

    Proud Treasure

    Hosta Sorbet

    Clifford's Stingray

    Autumn Frost

    First Mate

Put my first order in for early summer (From Naylor)

    Hotshot
    Peppermint Twist
    Mango Salsa
    Stags Leap
    Owen's Outrage
    Purple Ventriculated Elf

I'm hoping to use these for hybridizing in the future so that's what I'm kind of going for this year. Also thinking I'll add these to my order from Northern Grown Perennials

    Garnet Prince
    Elatior
    Blue Vision
    Gunsmoke
    Jack of Diamonds
    Mastadon
    Silver Giant

Silver Giant sounds intriguing, can’t wait to see all these in the future!
