Backsplash suggestions?

Hello!

This is our new kitchen and trying to pick the right tiles for backsplash so I turned to you professionals.

The wall paint colour is Benjamin Moore Collingwood.

We are looking for something would complement the whole area.

Busy pattern on the counter is making it not easy for us to pick the tiles.

Should it be plain grey family or some pattern is still okay? Glossy or matte finish?

Just in case, what we don't want is glass tiles.

Thank you so much in advance!

Do you want to show more of the areas - it can't hurt.

I could go for a pretty look - the rosy color in counter could be painted on [whatever surface] - oh the curtains you could pick!

Mrs. S, I really like the first tile picture. Pointy ends make them not so boring. We went to a tile store today and unfortunately the store didn't carry something similar. I saw some beautiful glossy light grey tiles but my husband is completely again glossy tile...

Our floor & decor carries some of the ‘picket’ tiles in plain white and some different marbles. Or you could try a chevron.

My kitchen has a similar color way - white cabinets and fairly busy countertop. I used the 1x3” stainless subway tiles.

I wish Beth would chime in. She is a real expert at tile. You can check out Tile Bar (which she seems to source from). You can get samples from Fireclay and many others. It's worth getting samples so you end up with what you want. It will be really pretty. It's important to get something both of you like, and there are so many choices, I'm sure you can find something.

You can google "star and cross tile" to get many more examples. Some less glossy...which would look really nice.

For some reason I can't edit my photos so I'll just add here.

These photos should show more accurate colours of the countertop.

This is the sample tile we picked up yesterday. I'm not big fan of it to be honest, but we brought it just to compare the colour against the countertop.

I really love this tile found on Tilebar, but we live in Canada, so most of those beautiful tiles on Tilebar website can't be found here.

Seems the color of concrete which isn't a bad thing. The counters - were you attracted to them, and why and asking for information.

everdebz, we wanted some contrast against the white cabinet and loved the stone pattern and colour of this granite slab. It's called Rocky Mountain.

With our view of mountains - the setting sun shows beautiful rosy color, and rock details some --

Sam,,,,have you called Tilebar? 516.734.0405 to see if they ship to Can? If not, can you go to a local tile showroom and show them what you like? perhaps they can source it from somewhere in Canada.

For instance, that picket one you like is also from Lunada Bay Tiles. another poster on here used a similar color and shape, along w/a mosaic, for her kitchen. this is the Watercolor picket, and agate mosaic

have you thought about going w/a dark charcoal color for some contrast?

Beth H., I checked Tilebar's shipping policy and they only ship within the USA. I'll bring the picket tile photo to a tile shop here hopefully they can find something similar.

I really love some of the designs in the photos you posted, especially the dark counter with glossy dark tiles.

But I'm not sure about having a very dark wall in a small open concept area without any black or dark element in the area.

I haven't bought counters like yours - sure you don't want the added vertical backsplash? - and washable paint.
