We decided to rule out #3 because the wood would get jammed into a corner when approaching the master bed door.

You wouldn't even notice that minor issue once it's finished. All the other ideas are awful, for a variety of reasons, with the possible exception of #5. Running is all the same way would be preferable.

I agree with Johnson, option #3 is the cleanest, simplest look. It will make it easy for you to continue the floors into other rooms in the future.

are there joists to be taken into account? wood is usually run across (that is, perpendicular to) the joists...

3 is the best option. Or diagonal. As someone else posted hardwoods would normally be run across the floor joists for the best installation. Pick one direction and go with it. Having it go 3 different ways in a hall makes no sense.

#3 You should ask the installer to get good info.

Decided on #6 we don’t want to have the hardwoods crammed into a corner with narrowing small pieces right at the entrance into to the master bedroom.

The break in the middle of the hallway is going to look bad. Hopefully you will have that joint mitered.

I have a similar situation except it's two rooms that would be side by side, one is angled. Any pictures of the finished product?

@Jeff Curtis, This post is 6 years old, but your hardwood should run perpendicular to the joists.
