Window Treatment Challenge

I‘m stumped. What to do with these windows? Room is small and sectional is right up against the walls. Window treatments are not my strong suit so I have no idea what to do here. Home is a transitional style. Any suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Simple rods mounted both at the same height - based off the window on the right. Mount as high as possible within reason. Then simple drapery panels. Pull the furniture off the wall enough so that the panels fit behind and can function.

Alternatively, modern Roman shades (straight, not "scalloped" bottom edge), again mounted at the same height based off the window on the right, as high as possible.

Depends, too, on how much light and privacy you need. We had a situation that required some shade protection through the day so we opted for wood blinds so we could adjust as needed. I suppose shutters would work but they can be costly.

i have a similar challenge. following.

These windows face the back of the house so privacy is not a huge issue, although they do get raised or the blinds are opened to let in the light on nice days....

My preference would be for drapery panels if you can pull the furniture away from the wall a bit. That would allow you to still keep blinds if you wanted to. The current blinds are more utilitarian than decorative so I would use something to bring a little more style to the room. These would look nice with simple white/off white linen drapes. They have some very reasonably priced ones at Ikea.

What about plantation shutters? Not the wood type too expensive, I don’t know the type of material mine are but they are less expensive great for privacy or if you prefer lots of sun shine mine are great.

With properly sized drapery rods, you will not have room for the clock or the owl print.

chispa, exactly how far past the sides of the window do drapery rods need to go?! I don't exactly need functioning drapes and because the couch sits up against the wall, any drapes (or simple side panels) will can overlap the window some and they cannot run to the floor, unfortunately they'll have to be short.

Tessa Rose Design, took the quiz, it says "Metro". I would describe the style of this place as transitional, casual...

1st step is to get a nice white frame around the windows. Then have a contractor build a wooden valance like the image https://www.guidepatterns.com/diy-wood-valance-building-plans.php Then go for a nice white roman shade http://bit.ly/200DollarWhiteRomanShades Just message them your custom dimensions

Really liking the example from Beverly. Easy fix and looks great.

Here's a more realistic mock up of the space using the curtain idea. These are actually curtains I already have on hand. Too busy? Overpowering? Thoughts? It will definitely take some getting used to...

If you already have those then use them. I like that pattern. Move the sectional away from the walls. Not sure I would keep the clock in that location. I might mount a swing arm wall lamp for nestling in the corner and reading.

    1. Do you want to keep current blinds? 2. Do you get cold sitting by the windows?

Cellular shades. Also known as honeycomb shades, they have multiple layers of air pockets to insulate windows like a puffy down quilt.

I bet you've heard they sell treatments that go both up and go down - which leaves the upper open and the bottom part private.

I like the curtains you have. They do a nice job of breaking up the monotone colors and work well with your rug and pillows.

No drapes, I like the blinds or cellular or wood topper. I have the same problem. I bought my blinds at Brylanehome.com The silhouette natural color & comes in white. I love mine.

Hey there: you need two individual blinds each window - this way the windows looks more proportionate in a smaller room. I see you also have a small trim around the window - in this case use inside mount installation for your blinds/shades. Depending on the depth you have available, you can go with roller shades or pleated blinds or honeycomb shades...

You see in this pic what a difference individual blinds do to the design of a room...

Step 1: Curtains (next new blinds)). VOTE: Charcoal or Navy?

Oh I posted and never got to read a few posts. The indigo-type blue added something. Your warm wood table adds. I like her idea of filling the corner with item that is practical too.

I wonder if letting the previous wood rods show a little would be ok... widen the look a bit.

I think either work with your rug but the charcoal seems to be a little softer looking in color than the navy.
