No paint on the fence, if you decide you must do something, use a semi transparent stain. And I like the idea of the flamingos. :-)

NO PAINT. Semi Transparent stain is correct. Paint will peel and stain soaks into the wood and doesn't peel.

I like the warm cedar color with the cool gray house tone. I would, however, spray on a UV protecting spar varnish. (it can be a clear coat or it can be tinted in a cedar, redwood, or other wood stain color) Penofin makes a great product for wood. you can put it in one of those cheap sprayers, spray it on, and give a quick brush to even it out.

Otherwise, within a year it will turn a weathered gray and look blah. Would you rather have this???

UV varnish will protect it for many years.

Like the natural color of the wood and think it goes well with your backyard.

I like the idea of a light stain! Would go great with pink flamingos and you can liven it up with some fresh herbs/plants along the fence

I’m torn between letting it weather and staining it a dark charcoal gray.

penofin has a few gray colors. go w/that. at least you're protecting the wood

i still like the look of the cedar though. the warm wood tones look great w/grays and blacks.

you could always do the stencils in pink and gray!

IMO the flamingo would look much better if they were not directly on the fence.
