Stressed calathea?

last modified: 6 years ago

Hey,

I was given a Calathea plant that hadn't been repotted for years and the soil was rock hard (I had to crush it with a knife and a lot of physical strength). The plant started dropping leaves and I decided to repot it so water oxygen could go to the roots. After a long battle with the soil and very very careful root handling I managed to repot it to a fluffy well draining soil.

The problem is that after doing it the plant curled its leaves and started dropping them like crazy. A week has passed and it is not better. What have I done wrong? My concern is that the new soil was too cold, because the bag of new soil sits on the balcony and it is winter. Could that be it? Please help me, I really like this plant.

Thank you in advance!
