Makes me feel sad.

I love it! But then, I've always loved gray... way before it was popular, and I continue to love the cool colors. My current home is shades of gray, white and some blue. I'm not sure it ever got popular in rural Wisconsin, so anyone who comes in my house has been quite surprised by my color choices. No off white, tan, beige or brown in my house!

It is, but it takes quite a bit of time for that information to trickle down to the average homeowner, realtor or flipper. It doesn't help that Home Depot and Floor & Decor still have warehouses full of the gray stuff that they need to clear out of inventory!

The worst color for FL with its warm light is cool gray.

cpartist -- would you clarify your comment a bit more? Curious why gray wouldn't be a good choice for warm light...is it the undertones?

Regarding the house, at least the floors aren't also gray I think they seemed to have a bit of warmth. I've seen worse flips.

I agree with you Lisa - that flip could have been so much better without all of the gray :(

For me, gray is such a calming color that I've always been a fan. And with the right shade of it, you can successfully straddle the warm/cool divide with other elements in the room. With the proper gray on the walls, you can use furniture, wall hangings, items on a shelf, etc to control a room's feel without changing much at all. Neither whites nor tans seem to provide that flexibility. Different strokes I guess!

I’m a big fan of gray, and just off the top of my head I can think of five shades of it that I have chosen and used in the last year, all Ben Moore colors- Booth Bay Gray, Gray Owl, stonington Gray, Silver Chsin, Moonshine. i love all of them and have zero regrets. I don’t think it’s anywhere close to going away. Its actually getting easier to find coordinating things, so guess I disagree with that postulate.

At least the water is blue. Well, the pool is.

I adore grey...but that is a bit much. Many of the walls in my house are a very light, neutral grey that is a bit cool. My house doesn’t feel cold, though, bc my floors are a medium brown oak, I have a large walnut topped island, and I have a decent amount of natural brass lighting. Hopefully they can warm this home up with rugs, furnishings, and art.

For me it's not just the gray, but the inclusion of every single trendy gray element...too many clowns in the circus.

That one bath has 4 different stone or stone-look elements, plus the cabinets and presumably something else on the floor. It's horrible.

I did a gray kitchen over 3 years ago as it suits my house. I still love it. But my house also has LOTS of color in other rooms!

I will say that just about every single flip I see in my area has gray everything. It used to be beige everything. I guess it sells or they wouldn’t do it...

Have you tried to buy something that isn't gray lately? A builder working with mass market materials doesn't have a whole lot of choice because gray has reached saturation. Even the colors that are cropping up are greyed...grayed pinks, blues, greens...I guess so they will work with all the gray seemingly everyone is immersed in at home.

There's whole new subdivision near me. Every last exterior on every last house is shades of gray. Like it has been writ somewhere: Thou shalt be gray.

Last summer, I was looking for an aqua paint for my laundry room floor. Every aqua in the book was muddied with gray. I finally asked the clerk if there was a clean pure aqua. She pulled a whole other book of paint colors, clean colors, off the bottom of the stack and I found what I was looking for.

We have the ability to homestead here in Fl and that affects the tax bill tremendously - keeps it very low for sellers that have owned their properties a long time. When the buyer purchases the property, the county/municipality increases the assessed value to the new value and the bill increases accordingly. The new buyer would have to start the homestead process again, unless they are porting over their current homesteaded property taxes from another Florida location. So, that $2k tax bill - not for the buyer, it reflects only what the seller is paying.

The $50 HOA fee? Not typical in my area of Florida, but a nice feature :)

Holy smoke, no joke.

I've disliked the color since adolescence (maybe even before that) -- I was the kind of kid who wished that concrete came in a different color, and I loved the brick sidewalks we had in front of an old house in Kansas.

Now that I'm an adult, and able to afford a few things, I can't find anything, because 90% of what's out there is gray. Saves me money, I guess....

The new property taxes will probably be around $5500-$6000 without transferring Homestead. The HOA fees are voluntary. Just a loose association of neighbors. BTW, it received an offer within 10 hours of being listed.

At least the whole house was consistent. The bad ones I saw, were the larger house that had been built in the beige tuscan trend and they tried to update by painting the walls gray and adding a white/gray kitchen, but kept all the travertine floors. Yuk! Travertine and gray should not be in the same room. The overall visual effect is pink and blue!
