kenmore elite HE3, model 110.82822102

Start button says push and hold. Often it starts after holding it in for 3 seconds. However now sometimes need to hold it for 5, 8, or even 12 seconds before it starts. Also, sometimes it wont start at all. Then I release it after 20 seconds and try again. Sometimes it will start the 2nd or 3rd try, but frequently it does not.

Then the next day it may behave the same way or it might start.

The start push button feels fine and sometimes I even try push extra hard.

The LEDs are light up during all this. The light in the tub also comes on when door is open, even if it wont start.

Ideas?
