We installed LG Viatera Nimbus in March 2018. Very happy with it. Easy to clean. I am a little paranoid about about putting hot cookware on it even with a trivet. No regrets.

I know this is an old post but I’ll reply anyway. We installed Cirrus 1 year ago. It’s more beautiful than I imagined. We’re very happy with it. the countertop hasn‘t been had Normal wear & tear - this kitchen has only been used for about 4 months.

Cirrus is creamier than Minuet. Cirrus doesn’t have what I’d call veins, it’s a different type of pattern.

I'm thinking of Cirrus, too. What color paint did you use with it? I have the fun job of painting my cupboards.

@rpwoodard When you say cirrus is creamier, does that mean it leans more yellow? I have Pure White cabinets and wood flooring to work with, and am trying to decide on a counter that isn't too busy and will match the cabinets. I only have small samples of the minuet and cirrus, and I think I like the less " veiny" pattern in the cirrus, but am worried it will ready too yellow/cream. I believe on the Viatera website they say it has a number of different shades/colors in it including tan, grey and white---is that correct?

@debru4 Here are some pics of Cirrus against various materials we are considering installing it with. The last photo we have it on a light gray cabinet sample.

@Amy Pangborn Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and these photos. What color is your floor? I also want to have a medium light shade of wood flooring, and will have pure white cabinets. I was looking at a Maple Cardiff or Canyon Tan Maple but the Canyon Tan is not in stock, and I really like the look of your sample.

My walls in the adjacent rooms are a light tan/griege color and I I want to keep things somewhat coordinated. From your photos it looks like the cirrus could pick up the white and not clash with the nearby walls. Do you also see the neutral potential in cirrus going with both white cabinets and the slightly warmer wall and floor color? On the photo with the different backsplashes, it looked good with all of them.

Have you decided on the Cirrus? If not, what else are your considering?

@debru4 The first photo is the flooring we are going with, Arroyo by Naturally Aged Flooring. Our cabinets are pure white. Debating back splash between the white tile in the third picture and just using the Cirrus as the back splash, our kitchen is small.

We have debated a beautiful quartzite instead of the CIrrus but can't justify the cost. Pental Quartz has a couple colors we like but Cirrus is the most netural, without the veining I don't care for, and not as stark white as Minuet.

I was the original poster for this thread and haven't checked it in awhile so didn't realize there were new posts! Thought I would share what we ended up with in case it helps someone else! We used Viatera Minuet throughout the house for both kitchen and bathrooms. I love it! We have been in our house for about four months now and I am really happy with how easily it cleans up and doesn't stain. I will post a few pics for you to see. I agonized over which paint and backsplash to use and am really happy with the way it all works together. We used BM Simply White for the cabinets and I also used it for the ceilings and all the trim in the house. Hope that helps!

The house faces south and the kitchen window is on the east side of the house. I used Simply White in our previous house as well and it is really a beautiful slightly warm white. I wanted a crisp white that was not too cool if that makes sense:).

@debru4, I don’t find the Cirrus to be yellowish. But - depending on the colors in the room and the temperature of the under cabinet lighting, I’m sure Cirrus could look more yellow.

I’m not able to find my photo of Cirrus & Minuet side-by-side.

What helped me tremendously was going to an LG Viaterra distributor, where I could look at full-size slabs. I also called local countertop fabricators & asked if they happened to have on hand the full-size slabs I was interested in.

In the photo below, the warehouse employee is holding a piece from our island so I could see it next to different slabs.

I n my opinion, using Cirrus with white cabinets would be like having an off-white range with white lower cabinets. (I am a homeowner, not a professional,) Some people like that look, others don’t.

@rpwoodard Thanks for sharing your input and photos of Cirrus and Minuet. Because my kitchen is small, and I have the pure white cabinets going up to the ceiling, I decided to stay with white quartz counters as well so I didn't break up the space with a colored counter. But you are correct that without the right shade of white it will look very off. That's my dilemma right now. I will try to locate a place where I can look more closely at large slabs of these counter materials. When I lay any sample with taupe or tan on the cabinets, it tends to look dirty, even though the nearby walls are that color, and very choppy. I may do something with those accents in the backsplash.

@Kelly Bott Thanks so much for your photos and feedback. I am considering using Simply White in my upstairs bedroom/bathroom, as I also like the warm white, yet still neutral appearance. I've looked at so many samples and keep coming back to Cirrus and Minuet. I bought a 5x7 sample of each from Viatera, and the Cirrus appeared whiter, although one of the commenters here felt it might look like an off white mismatch up against the Pure White white cabinets. The cabinets are not bright white, but definitely more white than Simply White. Your kitchen photo looks great. Would you say the Minuet is whiter/softer than your Simply White painted cabinets a bit, but still in the same range? On my Minuet sample I see white, light and slightly darker grey veins. Are there any other shades/colors you see on a larger piece?

The Minuet counter is a tad whiter and more gray than the Simply White cabinets but they are in the same family so I feel like they work well together. I do think the Minuet is one of the "softer" white quartz choices out there (and I looked at a ton!!) I am not really seeing any other shades in the large pieces. Coordinating the whites in my kitchen was the hardest part of our whole house renovation and I almost switched my whole design plan because I got so frustrated with it. It was helpful for me to order white paint sample swatches from Samplize (they are large 12x12) and hold them up in the space with the quartz and backsplash samples. I had about 15 white subway tile samples before I found the one that was the right white (and it ended up being the cheapest one I was looking at). My husband laughed at me but he even realized the difference in the different backsplash tiles I was holding up. He thought "white is white right?". Good luck!

@Kelly Bott--I just reread your post about the challenges in dealing with whites and it really resonated with me. I am nearing "choice time" on my quartz countertops, and just when I think I am pretty certain, I'll see another image or hear another description of one that makes me second guess. I am hoping to go to Denver next week to look at full slabs. I was fairly sure I wanted Cirrus, until another poster said he felt it would look like off white up against the white cabinets, which wouldn't be good at all. So I leaned toward the Minuet. But some of the photos look incredibly busy and the veins look so dark and prominent that it worries me. I prefer a more subdued pattern. You mentioned you felt Minuet was a soft white, which is my impression too. How would you describe the veining? Subtle? Lots of it? Spidery? Dark? I am super sensitive to colors and have long been aware of the myriad of variations of all colors, but white especially. I will need something that doesn't clash with a soft tan/greige wall color, along with the pure white cabinets, and likely a white backsplash as well, with light brown wood floors. I also have ordered Samplize wall swatches----I love them. Just hope I can get the paint right. But that is next week's dilemma---this week's is the counter. :) Thanks so much for your input!

@debru4 I think it will be really helpful for you to look at the big slab of Minuet and Cirrus with your paint and other samples. (Make sure they put the slab in good lighting for you!) As far as the veining goes, I don't find it too busy but there is a fair amount of it. I think it comes off as more of a soft light gray veining. The Cirrus looked like more of a granite to me than quartz because of its cloud like fluffy appearance but it was pretty.

@Kelly Bott I am in the process of trying to find some showrooms that have slabs of these, Hopefully I can look at some this week as decision time is here. I really appreciate the link to the Hello Lovely Studio. What a great article! My style is less formal/elegant than hers, but what a beautiful kitchen! Your photos of your kitchen look so lovely, and elegant as well. After seeing those photos it made me wonder if my eclectic style might not be a good match for the Minuet......oh my, seems I still have more questions than answers:) Once again, thanks for your patience. @Tanya Corbin Yes! We did and I love it so much. Soft white, not stark and not yellow. Not sure how much our house impacts that. We face a green belt with two story windows so a ton of natural light.

Any staining issues?

Nothing I've seen. I've found coffee and spaghetti sauce the morning after my teens have been in the kitchen and it wipes right off.

Install starts tomorrow. I was wondering what you use for hotpads? I am so afraid my teenager is going to put hot food on mine and ruin them.

We just use hot pads or grab a nearby towel. I don't have any fun trivets but wish I did.

Definitely had that conversation with our teen about not burning them!!! I have no idea how heat tolerant they really are but don't want them tested. Enjoy install day. So exciting.

For those of you who used Cirrus, what color white did you go with for cabinets and/or walls? I'm comparing SW Alabaster, SW Cotton, and SW Pure White.

My cabinets are pure white and it is a very pretty contrast with the Cirrus counters. I was worried about the countertop looking off color but it looks great! I also like SW Silverpoint for my walls it pulls out one of the colors in the counter. It is grey with a hint of green. I am currently deciding on my backsplash tile color. Hope everything works out well for you!

@Rachel Miller. I picked Cirrus and absolutely love it. My cabinets are pure white by Sherwin Williams which isn’t quite as bright as the SW extra white, but is more cool leaning than warm. (It’s pretty neutral.)I had ordered both samples from Viaterra which helped me a lot. The samples were about 5x12 inches and worth it.( I’ve used the samples since as a mini cutting board and a base to put under candles.) I think either color would look good with the white cupboards. For me it came down to the fact that the Minuet had more movement and darker veining, while the Cirrus had less pronounced veining. I could have been happy with either, but felt like the Minuet would fit better in a more simple, classic kitchen than my more cottage decor. What basic design aesthetic is your kitchen?

@debru4 i was trying yo go for a more modern look - maybe transitional. what do you think of the options for that

@rkmiller81 @rkmiller81 I think either would be fine. What colors are in your backsplash and floor? What wall colors are in the kitchen and the connecting areas? The Minuet is white with grey/dark grey black veins. The Cirrus is a bit softer with a less defined pattern. I feel like it blends nicely with the canvas tan walls I have in connecting rooms, and would look nice with other cooler colors as well. I'm curious if you have seen the actual stone samples in your space? What timeline are you working with?

Does anyone have a remnant of Viatera cirrus? Only need about 16 by 24.
