For a start, even the way it is right now is still way cramped than ideal. The best thing if you are looking at a pocket door maybe replaces the laundry machine with just one washer & dryer combined, or stack them on top of each other, and then add stackables to the side. Ideally, I don't think it would be ideal to marsh up laundry and pantry unless you really have to.

Is it possible to use the shelving space on the left of W&D for a stackable laundry set? If your laundry tub is a must, could you put it in a cabinet? You’ve not given dimensions. You will lose space if you put in a wall.

In looking at the space I thought "a roll UP door!) googled is and lo and behold they are available - something to look into -- not the garage door type there are several lovely wood ones

The roll up door is genius. For a cheap fix, how about installing a roll up bamboo type shade to the ceiling and keep it pulled down when you want the room tidy and are not using the laundry. When it is pulled up it will still look nice and be out of the way.

Another option would be to disguise the washer and dryer and then add cabinets down to the countertop which could be used for food and small appliances.

Isn't the door on the right to the garage or back porch? Wouldn't you miss it?

I like Wilson's first picture, but I wouldn't bring the cabinets all the way down to the countertop. Make the countertop removable so it's easier to service the machines. And you'll want the cabinet doors to slide back into the spaces between the machines and the way or sink. It's there room for that?

I think your project is a much larger construction project than you are anticipating? I am wondering exactly what your question is? Has anyone done that kind of work? Well yes plenty have but what are you asking us specifically? Will your door to I assume the outside have to go? Yes. You would also likely have to lose all your cabinets above laundry units, the pantry to the right of fridge as well as have to move the fridge. If you were to install one standard 36-42" opening you would have to have wall space for a barn style door to slide to. SO lets say you build the wall and the wall can accommodate the door sliding onto it because you have relocatedthe pantry cabinets, existing door and you now have your cabinets on the right siting against the new wall and the door is sliding to the left where the fridge no is.......and you're standing inside your new closed in laundry room. Can you open the doors to the front load machines?

My question is before you open this can of worms, what is on the other side of the wall the laundry units and sink are sitting against? What is on the other side of the wall the fridge is on? It might be a better solution to reconfigure by considering where a new doorway can be installed. For example can you create a laundry by adding said wall across back of kitchen with an entrance from where the open shelves are sitting against? Can you stack the units? There are too many variables and just adding a door and wall isnt going to be an easy solution for you .

You can keep the layout you have by getting bifold with full access hinges.
I have these and love them several friends have copied the idea.

We have exactly what @R M suggests with the bifold doors. Works perfectly, closes away so no one knows laundry is in kitchen (except when husband and / or teen decides to do laundry ;)).

The wall behind the machine is an outside wall, to the left it’s a bedroom and to the right where there is the door it’s the patio.
We have a big sliding door on the other side of the kitchen (that we’ll remodel).
The idea is to hide the laundry room, reduce noise of the machines, and keep as much room as we can.

Glad that you like the idea. With separate cabinets one can be designated for your laundry supplies.
