I used to have paperwhite narcissus which are hardy in zone 8 and warmer, but too many times we would have early warming and the blooms would then be damaged in a frost. You might as well cut it and enjoy it indoors in a bud vase. Cut daffodils release a substance that damages other types of flowers, so keep them separate from any other early bloomers.

It's nice to see the early blooming ones, but I sure hate to see snow on them.

I have a rogue daffodil pushing leaves that though the three days of upper 60s a week ago meant spring. It's been met with a week of sub freezing nights. Will be curious if the rogue will continue it's winter rebellion.

Mine are all pushing leaves but so far I've only noticed two blooming. My older early one's always keep right on blooming even if it is cold and/or snowing. They don't seem to notice. It warms the heart, if not the body, to see them. Spring IS on the way! lol

It was 73 ans 74 degrees here last weekend, warmest ever in January, and I saw bog plants coming back. Now it's in the teens!! Yikes Glad you got the surprise)
