Solid color, same size tiles = far less cost to install than planks and better whole-house appearance. Be sure to buy extra tiles, accidents do happen. Caution on painting the cabs; what you have now is far easier to maintain / repair as opposed to painted. If this is a short-term "vacation" type rental the occupants are most concerned with the number of beds & baths, not the kitchen.

I live in a condo on the ocean and I just thought I'd comment that for the last 4-5 years here in my area of FL, 'everybody' was putting in wood look tile and every restaurant that was being updated also installed the wood look tile. I was at a friend's condo the other day and another friend commented that her floor looked just like the floor in one of the restaurants in town. After she said that, she was kind of embarrassed but it just slipped out. And I have a neighbor who just sold her condo with 2 her y/o wood look tile floor and the new people are ripping that out and putting some other tile down, I don't what kind or design.

Mary, here are three options that may work for you: 1. Contact a reputable local interior designer that charges by the hour and ask them for an in-home consultation. Not only could they give you the best advice on a complementary flooring, but they can also discuss paint/stain options with you too. 2. If you have any extra travertine tiles, take one of them with you (or a *close-up* photo of 3-4 tiles) with you to a local flooring store. Some have in-store designers that can show you a few coordinating options. I'd suggest looking at square porcelain tiles, in a neutral color (like a taupe) as wood look can look cheap for the same price PSF, and they would be less cost to install. 3. Consider higher end vinyl plank flooring: there are some gorgeous options out there which are very visually realistic, and some with better a warranty

Hi, Yes I would like to know the same thing? Why do you think the wood floors look is going out for a beach condo? I didn't think hardwood look ever went out? I am about to gut a 2 bedroom condo and redo it totally and was planning on putting in the vinyl plank throughout. I think so it looks totally beachy for the look. I like it way better than the cold tile floor.
