Make a list of your pros and cons with this existing paint color, and weigh those costs vs. benefits to find out if it is in fact a priority to you to paint the house. I would clean up the electrical business going on at the ridge-beam on the exterior, and if you do paint the exterior, go for a warm charcoal gray, which would really highlight the lush greens surrounding in the context as well as the modern form of the house. Consider a flagstone pathway or large square modern pavers to create a walkway through a garden. If you choose to plant trees for a vertical element in the front, go for Japanese maple and consider uplighting with landscape lighting at night, for a simple, classy architectural statement. Also, brightly colored patio furniture will give a splash of funky interest and really call you to enjoy the space.

Hi Kate....I agree with Introspecs, and would suggest BM Storm for the exterior, the trim BM White Dove, and you might want to try the gray on the fascia. If there is room in the budget, replace the sliders with French doors. You also might want to add large house numbers on the wood panel to the left. Patio furniture would add charm, and give you a place to relax and enjoy your garden.

What a gem! Keep the big beams a shade darker than the siding color to give them predominance. Since you do have white windows, using a lighter shade of the brown-gray on the trim around the openings will help the eye make the jump. Sherwin williams has a terrific card - anonymous for the beams, intellectual gray for siding, and shoji white for trim. Add a tangerine front door and shabam!

do get some assistance on how the phone line / cable is coming in - it is ruining your money shot! Search contemporary landscape on houzz - multiples of the same plants, in grids, round pebble underneath, pavers in geometric patterns, you'll make an idea book and then draw from it.

You've received some great advice already.

Are you afraid of color? You are surrounded by green trees with brown trunks. I'd think a nice bluish gray would be a great color. It's so easy to find flagstones or patio stones in that color for a walkway, and it will make everything stand out.

It doesn't sound like you need landscaping advice, but it appears you are missing just one statement tree or bush near the house. I'd plant a great tree on the far left (when facing the house) near the largest wall in front, without the window.
