Something is binge-eating my garden

We planted new plants in June '19. Virtually all of them have been eating to the ground (bergenia's are gone). Many of the eaten plants are under the canopy of a redwood tree. There are no signs of snail/slug trails. I see no bug on leaves, under leaves, on stems. Four ribes sanguiniem have been eating from bottom leaf to the top. The only signs of a pest I'm seeing are spider webs on the Acer monroe and Kousa Dogwood. Ferns are being eaten!! Even ceanothus on the other side of the yard show signs of snacking!!! Photos below... Thank you in advance for your help!
