Swiffers covers out of fleece. Easy and fun.

Finally finished putting together squares that our knitting group and others in town donated to make blankets for project linus. Considering these were squares produced at random, the blankets came out pretty good.

Working on some more of my click bags. I think I need to make Swiffer covers!

I finished the GMC trucks' duck, bucket seat covers, headrest covers "and" console cover. The back seat covers are still being worked on.

Last week I made a table runner for a bookcase that we bought for our rental house. It was a fairly cheap bookcase, 25" W x 12" D x 29" H, and I needed it so that I can store cookbooks in it. Here's the runner:

Here's the underside, showing how I hemmed it:It took me longer to change the threads in my overlock machine than it did to make the runner! It is a new four-thread machine, and I wanted a flat edge instead of a double folded hem. I got the fabric at work, which was leftover from an upholstery job. This project is as simple as it gets, but it's what I was doing lately.

I also attached Velcro to some tapestries that I hung in the new house. Here's one of them:

I used Velcro that is sticky on one side and plain (for sewing) on the other. The sticky side gets glued and stapled to a wooden slat that is then screwed to the wall. The only sewing is for the other piece of Velcro to attach to the back of the tapestry. I am having trouble finding this type of Velcro, and when I do find it, it is available only in white, but I used to buy it in black. I made those two pillows several years ago, also from fabric leftover from an upholstery job.

I have been sewing reusable bags for vegetables that I hope to give away for free at a couple of the local farms this coming summer.

I have downsized most of my sewing and I had a couple of long lengths of cotton that are pretty but I am not going to use.

So, I, basically tore them into fat quarters and sewed up these bags that are roughly the size of one of the plastic ones at the store.

I have hope that the people who end up with them will actually use them instead of plastic.

Other than that, I am trying to use up some home dec fabric by applying it to refresh the things that are looking worn.

I recently made my daughter some really nice pillow covers for her couch pillows. The ones that came with her couch were just not working. I had purchased some beautiful fabrics to use to set tables for her wedding some years ago and they were old school beautiful stuff that you might not even find anymore. They are of somewhat of what might be called "French provincial" in nature. They came out looking like a million dollars! I made sure to actually wash and dry the fabrics a couple of times before construction including the muslin lining and the cording. Now, even though they look like something that you might dry clean, they are completely machine washable.

I'm making coasters for all of the teachers and helpers at my granddaughter's preschool. The kids interact with all the teachers at various times, so that makes about two dozen coasters. This is her last year, so I wanted to give them just a little something to show my appreciation. No two will be the same fabrics. I will also include a card with a quote from John Dewey: "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."
