My husband and I just recently purchased this 1970's split entry home. (we love the location and land but I HATE the look and feel of split entry homes!) We really want to change the outside of it to give it a long covered front porch area but we aren't sure how to make that work with the lower windows. Has anyone ever done anything like that? We can't really dig down to much lower since the driveway is right outside their also and we don't want water to run towards the house. Advice or thoughts on how to change the look of it? We already know we want board and batten siding and nicer looking rock but we would love it not to be a long plain looking box and we are trying to stay away from making it look like a suburban house since we live on the north shore of Lake Superior. We want it more rustic. Thanks!
