For you room I would recommend wood blinds

Do you need privacy?

Real wood blinds are light. If they were heavy, they were faux and if they were hard to operate, the cords may have been fraying. Levolor is on the low end. A brush attachment on a vacuum or a swifter brush, makes it a bit easier to clean them.

Oh, well I did not buy them - I assumed they were real wood. I know how to clean them, but they were most definitely dirt catchers.

Perhaps brown blinds would be ok in a very sunny area, but for me they are horrid! I like light, bright interiors, and generally dislike any blinds or shades that exist without curtains. I always prefer curtains.

Did you select furniture yet? Perhaps start with that and a rug then choose curtains. You have large areas of very dark, light stucking pieces now--the massive TV, the media piece underneath, the overstuffed chairs. Here are some thoughts about your room:

--If the massive TV is staying, then get an attractive wood piece underneath that echoes your floors and dining furniture (unless those are being changed out, too).

--I rarely recommend sectionals, but one would work in this room with one side facing the fireplace and the other facing TV and creating a "walkway" path to that open door. Choose a piece that is not too oversized and harmonizes with your brick fireplace and great wood floors--camel leather, maybe with an upholstered print chair as shown below. This palette of camel and navy would look amazing in your room. Use a rug to anchor the sofa and chairs conversationally and for TV/fireplace watching.

Meanwhile, look for a beautiful art work for over the fireplace. The clock, plus the pictures don't work at all. Why even have a clock in a room for relaxation? Here's an attractive fireplace along with simple bamboo shades for the windows. These could look great in your windows--honey color

I wouldn't add wide blinds of wood.

For fireplace wall, I suppose roman shades or whatever is like those ...could outside mount cover window trim... and if same fabric for tv-wall curtains, could cover trim....?

But a brightening color imo might not be ideal next to big black tv which heightens contrast, and attention to it... this color could be in subtle pattern...

Housegal's idea of indigo I think, but depends what colors you have already in your house. Here's something you could buy at Penney's possible. I've seen same fabric used in different style options.

This khaki seems so neutral -- more money for cellular type liner.

Let's say you find a subtle texture or such for windows.... maybe you could even out normal brick with bit of off-white paint the way they do...

I know you didn't ask! and you have new things coming.... has a rug over carpeting appealed? it would seem to break up neutrals.

I haven’t thought of a rug on the carpet and only because of our dogs. They are older and they have many accidents these days so for now I need to keep certain things on the simple side cuz I’m shampooing the carpet often.

I like Housegal200’s ideas. Woven shades on the two tall skinny windows and then curtains on the other windows (but mounted as high as they can go with the fabric just touching the floor). You didn’t ask for other info, but if I may offer an opinion...I think if I were you I would get rid of the ceiling fan and replace the fireplace surround. They are giving the space a very ‘80’s feel. Have you considered expanding the wood floor into the space and getting an area rug?

How do you feel about shutters for the tall skinny windows? You can choose a material (wood or composite) to match the trim. Then, just do a new curtain on the other windows for texture/warmth.

Natural wovens would look beautiful by the fireplace as well as the other windows. Looks like you have nice wood trim and a pretty wall color. It would add texture and lots of style. I think they would also make everything more streamlined and contemporary.
