No X hostas

It has been weird winter, no snow and it has been warm. I worry how my hostas will survive from this warm winter. Ground freezes and then it melts, many times.

Picked up an X last year as soon as I found it available. Another nice one from Doug Beilstein. X-cellent

The center gets less prominent as it matures and that green streak from the leaf tip into the center remains. Here's a leaf closeup.

Everytime I see this hosta I hear the song...

I hear the song Xanadu too but I also picture myself on roller skates.

Saija..your snow is so clean and beautiful..I bet your hostas will be fine..hostas are tough..mine survive big temperature changes every year..

Beth that was one smart little hitchhiker. It must have made an already great day super special! Did you continue to use the front door or use an alternate until the goldfinches left the nest? Birds are not shy around you lol!

Sherry you are due, and after getting pics of the Monarch emerging I am going to say this is your year to have the opportunity to get hummingbird photos! Grab a drink and a chair and relax near your best plant that attracts them!

We did minimize use of that door as much as we could. The poor mom would leave her nest every time we were within 10 feet of the nest.

zkathy..is there a cat sunning in the middle tub?..does planting in a tub stop the voles?..

So far no voles have gotten into the tubs! That’s the new cat, he hangs with me in the garden because I protect him from the other cats. The far tub is not level because a huge pine tree fell on it.

yay no voles in the tubs!..don't laugh but I don't know..would the cat kill voles?..that storm sure made a mess at your house :-(

djacobs love kibble! Yes grasshoppers and that dragonfly is a beauty. I adore them because they are fabulous to look at and they help with the mosquitoes & blackflies.

Gorgeous old_dirt. There are few things better than relaxing and enjoying our garden friends!

djacobz..your pics are also beautiful!..I love the dragonfly..I had an adorable dragonfly garden stake..bronze metal with a green glass body..I stuck it in the coneflowers by my mailbox..one fall we're putting everything away for winter and we can't find it anywhere..I hadn't noticed when it disappeared..I think someone stole it..by the street..pull it out of the ground and go..some people are horrible..

old dirt what wonderful pictures, makes me think I should try my taking pictures with our SLR. I agree the best way to take pictures is to sit back quietly and let the birds come to you.
