Hi I'm replacing my rotted patio cover (2" x 2" slats) with rough sawed redwood I plan to stain. The new wood is a bit dirty and has some black marks probably from rubbing in transit. How can I clean the wood before staining (maybe wash or sand or ?) and do I need to seal the wood at some point? Thanks in advance for any direction. Dan
