You need to leave it out far enough that people can walk between it and the couch. As long as, when you do that, it's not blocking a walkway, I think you're ok.

It's not too big if you have 15 inches front of each sofa , It is too "heavy" and dark. Add some COLOR and pattern if you must have another upholstered element in the room, or even a light stone top. You're headed to "brown out" : )

Jan - I totally agree that it feels heavy. Not sure about the “brown out” comment tho. I really have nothing brown in my LR but maybe the photo doesn’t accurately show the colors. My sectional is greyish/green. I have two light gray chairs not seen in the photo. The ottoman is black.

How about one with a great pattern. I’d too would go a little smaller, easier to maneuver around

Very pretty space! Though I prefer round coffee tables with a sectional. If you have to keep it, I would do a round tray to break up all the hard angles.

I agree that it definitely needs a round tray with a few accessories.
I really like your colourful/patterned toss cushions and think you should add more cushions to the left side and middle section of your sectional to balance it all out.
