Sitting Room Help

Hi all! Over the weekend I've been working on putting together my formal sitting room which is right off the main entrance to the home. So far, I've hung some art work, added two sitting chairs, an ottoman, and a small end table and lamp. Something seems to be missing to me. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I add a console table under the pictures? Any help or advice would be appreciated. The third image is a view of how open the room is to the entry and dining area.

Thanks!

IMO the ottoman is too big and the table between the 2 chairs is too small. I don’t think you have space for a console without moving the chairs so they no longer sit in the window like they do now.

I'd like to know what the pro's think of adding 2 more chairs to mimic the two at the window with a round ottoman or table? A sitting group for 4.

    This kind of a concept.

I agree to add functionality and that ottoman feels large.
I think add a large tray to ottoman with the books you're reading on top.
also I like the topiaries in the the entry.
add a large topiary in corner under paintings near dining room

I originally thought of doing that but I feel like it would look too much since it opens right up to my dining room and the dining table and chairs. That is why I only went with two!

It's hard to tell how much room you have because we've only seen the one angle. Can you take a picture from wall opposite this room?

It's about a 10x10 sized room. I just feel like adding more chairs would make it too close together to everything else.

Do you have a round table or ottoman you could try? It's a softer look.

Not at the moment, but I could look into getting one.

With the chairs angled, it doesn't look like the ottoman would be comfortable, yet it's also not a coffee table. I'd do a round ottoman, and a shallow bookcase under the pictures

Add green lumbar pillows to the chairs and turn the ottoman. I don't think adding 2 more chairs will work due to the high backs.

Turn the ottoman what way? It is perfectly square 40"x40"

Try the chairs on the wall with the art.

    Your home is really lovely!

I love the chairs, but I think the ottoman looks too big. It looks sized for around a sectional or a larger seating area of sofa + chairs. Can you find a small, round, leather ottoman? I think your choice of leather is great, but it's just a bit too big. It should be size for just the two chairs.

Adding a console or bookshelves under your art would give the room some more purpose / character. I like the idea of a low glass door cabinet or low bookshelves to make it feel like a sitting / reading room.

Here is an inspiration. Get accent pillows, throws.

Lovely chairs, side table looks skimpy. I would get fancier one. May be turn ottoman on 45 degrees, and see is it better look , so corner faces the window. Nice volume drapes, I would get wider rod to open more window.

Rory suggested what I was thinking....put chairs under the art. Would also get a round ottoman instead of the square furniture.

Thank you all so much! So far I need some lumbar pillows, throws, a round larger side table, and a round ottoman smaller instead of the large one. Also, add a console under the canvas pictures.

I like your choices, really nice space.

The room is fine, as is. But since you're looking for ways to make it even more cohesive - I would say go bolder on your lamp, and maybe a little bigger scale on the table. Your chairs are substantial in size, as is the ottoman, and the table and lamp are not quite in scale + could have a bit more presence. I really like your lamp, and I see how it pulls from colors in your art. But I would consider bolder, and I think a black shade.

This may not be your style, but it is a fave of mine, and has a lot of presence. So just as one idea/example.

Try a slim floating shelf below the art. Do you have a tall piece of casegoods that could go left of the window. Then add your textures with pillows and throws, plus a bit of bling with a tray on the otttoman and some decor items atop it. This one would be pretty in a longer version.

Anyone have any good ideas for a new end table to go between the chairs?

Here are my updates so far. I am thinking of switching out the ottoman for a round one that is smaller when I find one that works.

    That looks beautiful!
I can see now how two additional chairs would have never worked. Beautiful sideboard and picture.
    Love the new round table.
A different ottoman and the room is perfect.

The artwork is too wide to hang over that cabinet. It should be between 2/3 and 3/4 the width of the cabinet.

Here is the final product! What do you all think? I may add a fiddle leaf fig tree in the right corner but other than that I think it all works nicely.
