I'd wait. It really isn't horrible looking, not from the photo. You say upgrade to ceramic; is it sheet vinyl now? It is a classic black and white pattern so it could go with pretty much anything. Be a little more daring with the shower curtain and put down a rug to coordinate. You'll forget about the floor.

You can put down a white rug in front of the sink if the strong contrast bothers you, but the rest of the bath is neutral so I don't mind the floor. If you really dislike it, and are planning to keep the rest of the bathroom for several years, go ahead and tile. It's a small space to redo. If you're planning a total remodel in less than 3 years or so, I would just wait. If you've just moved into the home, wait until you've lived there a while to decide.

Well, I would have preferred the tiles be on the diagonal, but I love classic b/w tiles.

I don’t think it’s horrible but it’s probably not everybody’s cup of tea so depends how much you dislike it? I can’t see the grout lines on the picture so is the existing floor vinyl? If yes then I think you can fairly easily lay some new vinyl down to change the appearance for a few years until you redo everything

Putting vinyl down for the time being would be cost efficient and easy to fit

Thank you everyone. Yes it is sheet vinyl. Moved in four years ago. I’ll continue to live with it but try to save as fast as I can! Maybe prioritize some other projects in main living area first.

our last house had carpet in the bathroom. They ran the same carpet from the living room and hallway into the bathroom. Your floor is 100x better than mine was, lol. We did change ours out immediately.

It’s not awful... a bit much maybe if you’re prone to feeling off balance in the morning or something... but I’d live with it and lay down some washable rugs.

I had that flooring but in actual asbestos tile before I remodeled.

It was one of the many things which I hated but kept until I could gut everything. Once you start making renovations, it is a slippery slope. I was really glad that I could gut everything and didn't have to work around any prior "investments".

I love a classic black and white tile floor. I've got a ceramic one downstairs in a bathroom and kitchenette. Embrace and enjoy it.
I find it goes with all colors. Red is my favorite. Our bathroom has red towels. Very sharp looking.
Enjoy now because you already know it will change one day.

Get an estimate for new sheet vinyl. The floor is the largest surface in the room. New flooring could transform the room.
