Needs Help please

My friend is planning to renovate her kitchen and put a dining room addition. Her wish is to have 2 tone of the kitchen cabinets: cherry wood for the base of the kitchen island and the rest of the kitchen cabinet is color painted. In the dining room addition: There will be an open stair so it will still allow the lights from the window behind the stair from the front of the house (south side). She also prefer a floor to ceiling type window at the end wall of the house (west side). There is a sliding door (north side) to access the new patio deck. She is looking for some advise regarding all of this windows configuration because she is concern that it might be too much day light for the dining room. Any advise is greatly appreciated. The Kitchen and Dining Room Addition layout is below.

There are drapes or blinds if she is worried about the light. I use solar shades so it controls the heat and the UV but you keep the view and I combine that with drapes for nighttime privacy. She does need wider walkways in the kitchen at least 48” between the island counter and the rest of the appliance walls

Hi Patricia, I have some question regarding the size of the island based on the drawing. The choices is between 36 " W x 9" Long or 36"W x 6"Long - do you think the 9" Long will be too big based on the drawing? We know we love to place our rice cooker, toaster-blender on the counter- we think we may need to built a beverage center which will be located side by side with the fridge. I hope anyone can help us...Thank you so much

Use light-filtering roll-up window shades which reduce the light and glare from natural daylight while allowing someone inside to see the outside view. Draperies can be drawn for nighttime privacy when lights are on inside the house.
