I love quirky and decor with character, so my vote is love it .... if the colors, pattern, etc are what you’d like anyway, of course. I’m loving the designs on it — as if it’s telling a story. I know some old rugs were crafted that way.

If you end up going in a different direction, I’ll bet you can find somewhere for it. I think it wants to live with you. :)

ETA: Will it be in a wet area? I’m just wondering how it’d hold up — I’ve never had this type of rug in a bathroom myself.

That wonkiness is simply a sign of the handcrafted, unique character of the piece. I actually find that look preferable to something that's perfectly symmetrical and thus has more of a machine-made, mass-produced look. I like your runner very much.

Agree with Jinx about questioning its use in a wet area, though. I recently had to toss out a vintage Turkish wool that developed the nastiest odor in my master bath (with only minimal water contact), although in all fairness I'm pretty sure it had something already festering in its fibers when it came to live with me.

Part of real rugs to me is how they are not "perfect" for silk and wool unlike synthetic materials stretch. Downton Abby did not have perfectly even nor flat rugs. So as long as it is not a tripping hazard I love it.

This is so fun...thanks for your comments. Jinx, I kind of think it may want to live with me too...there is absolutely nothing perfect in my home, most of all me! And perhaps it does have a story...I'm thinking lots of little feet running over just that end about a million times and stretching it out. I bought another (more expensive and much larger) rug for the bedroom redo, and can't wait to live with it. I love the age on it. Yes, this one will be in my bathroom but more in the dressing area than the bath area where I'll use (and dry off on) a mat. So far, the keepers have it....but let's see who else weighs in!
