My opinion is that plywood is in no way is better for cabinet box construction but that said cabinet sales people are not who you get to design your kitchen. I would however go with Leicht if you are looking for really modern .I also find they have a large choice of finishes, I use Ikea a lot in my kitchen designs and have had them in my homes and have never had a dovetail joint but the cabinets take a beating in my kitchen since I run a catering biz from there.IMO looks for the money would be Leicht.

I have Leicht and poggenpohl giving me designs and estimates. None of the website or catalogue information really goes into construction. I’m assuming MDF that’s laminated with melamine in thick layers so it prevents moisture penetration and delamination.

i Have never been in a real working German kitchen like leicht or poggenpohl. Only showrooms. Is the quality as amazing as the looks? if prices are about equal...which one do you choose?

All European kitchens German or Italian are constructed about the same. Boxes are industrial particle board with melamine facing . Much like we use here. Not MDF core typically and not thick layers that prevent moisture penetration. They always use leg levers so boxes dont touch the floor and the only place you can expect water damage is in the sink cabinet which would most likely have a bottom liner for that. Different lines offer different finishes and different aesthetics. . We build our cabinets on the European model using European components. The difference being price and lead time which is like half. This is an example.
