Accent Wall in Entry Foyer

Hello hive mind. We are contemplating creating an accent wall in our entry foyer. This is the wall you see directly in front of you as you enter the apartment (photos attached).

We'd like to add depth, color and interest, and importantly pick up colors from the living room which is seen from the foyer.

Foyer rug is a flatweave patchwork in shared of gold and neutral. The apartment walls are a very pale yellow, almost milk white. (The future accent wall has a slight green tint which was a prior, timid attempt at an accent wall which never really worked and clashes subtly.) The sectional is a warm gray/blue. The side chair in living room is burnt orange.

Overall feel is warm and masculine with midcentury accents.

We would consider paint, wallpaper, or possibly another material (fabric? wood?)

IMO remove all the clutter on the table take the mirror away and add a great piece of art then decide if you really need an accent wall.A mirror reflecting a door is not good at all and you already have a mirror in the LR. Maybe even use a color from the art if you still want an accent wall. That is usually what I do if accent is my aim. The rug is lovely but IMO a bit boring what is the one in the LR like? I also think it is too large for that space but would work really well in abedroom

What a lovely home! Your rug and other decor look fabulous. I wouldn’t change a thing.

My first thought for your entry accent wall is real grass cloth. With your elegant decor style, and vintage leanings, I think a subtle textured wall covering would look wonderful.

I feel that an accent paint color might look somewhat disjointed and flat in there.

Grasscloth is such a sophisticated and classic wall treatment — it would fit your aesthetic perfectly.

That drop front desk in your last photo looks to be blocking the hallway on the left. Have you considered switching it and the table? I think you need that visual kind of weight in the entry. In addition, there's an outlet where the desk is, so you can place a lamp on the table in the new location. Generally, I don't think accent walls are helpful where there is architectural interest already built in as with your arches. Where would be your stop/start points? I like the entry to express the owner's style and hint at what's to come in the adjoining rooms. Since everything is pretty open here, I would paint the entry to match the main room it opens to. Let colorful art do the accenting.
