A colorful rug and window treatments will jazz up the nook: A round rug measuring 4’ larger in diameter than the table top or a rectangular or square rug 4’ larger than the table, and color- coordinated fabric panels framing the window. You could even do a matching upholstered cushion for the window seat.

So, paint the window ledge with waterproof paint and load it with plants. Your view looks to be a fence and the neighbor's roof, so privacy isn't an issue and the plants will love the light from bare windows. Personally, I would remove the clock and upgrade the light to something more compatible with the style of your shell chairs. How about spray painting them different pastel colors, or adding a colorful cushion to the seats? I don't think the MCM vibe requires a rug, but a cool piece of art in place of the clock would be great!

I would either fill the area with more plants, and use it as a plant ledge, or have a colorful cushion made to fit, so it adds some interest to the space. The best change would be a colorful roman shade, mounted at the top of the alcove so the rounded top of the window is covered. It would give you some pattern and color. You could also paint the back wall of the alcove in a coordinating color. I agree that you should remove the clock. It's fighting with the chandelier.

I would do this:

Paint the back of the alcove white

Find a solid color rug that coordinates with the khaki color (same depth of color)

Choose a pattern fabric coordinating with the rug and hang a roman shade from the top of the alcove

(or choose a patterned rug and a coordinating solid color for roman shade and bench cushion)

Personally I would use the ledge for plants and sculptures, but it might be easier to use the roman fabric for a cushion, or a solid color from the roman fabric (if a pattern) something that also coordinates with the rug, either the same color, or contrasting.

New chandelier, remove clock

Put up a trellis on the fence and plant a flowering vine, or create a vertical garden. Add exterior up lights for a fabulous night time view.

Seeing that you have shelving with knick knacks on the wall, I might choose a cushion over more visual clutter, keep it simple. Although after taking another look, if the bench is not deep enough for sitting, maybe just put two large items on either side of the window. With the rug and fabric shade, you really don't need to bring any other textiles to make it cozy. If needed, you could make round pillows in the roman fabric for the chairs.

The globe fixture that ilikefriday posted is nice, or maybe a shell style, even though they have been done to death. Please post updates, I love seeing the progression of peoples design projects.

@ilikefriday Thank you!! This is an open area to our living room with huge windows so I was just worried about doing curtains that would'nt match throughout the large adjoining rooms.

@gigi4321 Thanks! The knick knacks on that adjacent wall are being removed and we are putting wall wine racks. That is right next to our bar area.

It seems like everyone agrees to move clock and update lighting so i'll start there!

There is a flowering vine in the fence that comes in spring :) It's just not throwing out leaves yet this season.
